BEHREND MEN CONTINUE TO DOMINATE SWIMMING AND DIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS

After Day Two of the AMCC Swimming and Diving Championship, the Penn St. Behrend men take a commanding 124-point lead over second place Pitt-Bradford.

The Lions built on their momentum from Day One and continued to excel in the pool by taking gold in six of the seven events on Thursday evening.

The 200 yard medley relay team of senior Dan Simon, junior Ty Elder, and sophomores Victor Nguyen and Nick Roth came in first place with a time of 1:34.27. 

The 200 yard freestyle went to Roth, who found the wall in 1:45.42, while Nguyen claimed victory in the 100 breasstroke, finishing in 58.91. Simon came in first in the 100 yard breaststroke, with a time of 49.66.  

Lion sophomore Nick Kost broke an AMCC open and meet record, and had a B-cut time of 4:05.90, in the 400 yard IM.

The Behrend 800 yard freestyle relay team of senior Ryan Micheltree, sophomores Nick Kost and Matt Myers, and freshman Ryan Siggins ended the night with a victory and a time of 7:21.59.

Pitt-Bradford sophomore Felipe Suntaxi is the first male swimmer of the championship to take the gold away from the Lions. Suntaxi was triumphant in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 51.78. 

The 2015 AMCC Swimming and Diving Championship will wrap up on Saturday, with the preliminaries beginning at 10:00 a.m. and the finals starting at 6:00 p.m.
