EIGHT MEN'S SOCCER PLAYERS EARN USC ALL-REGION HONORS

Eight AMCC men's soccer student-athletes were selected to the 2023 United Soccer Coaches (USC) NCAA Division III Men's All-Region VII team.

On the first team were Alfred State College junior M Jack Leahy and sophomore F Garrett Potts.

Potts adds another honor to his resume after taking home AMCC Co-Offensive Player of the Year and First-Team All-Conference honors. He led the Pioneers attack with 18 goals, while also assisting on five goals to earn 41 points this season. Potts tallied seven game-winning goals and had a .593 shot on goal percentage.

Leahy had a great junior campaign, he earned AMCC Co-Defensive Player of the Year and First-Team All-Conference honors. The junior led the Pioneers backline all season, while putting in four goals and seven assists.

Named to the second team were Mount Aloysius College junior F Juan Camacho and junor F Louis Bez. Pitt-Greensburg sophomore M Zander Plizga and Penn State Behrend senior D Justin LeDonne also earned second team honors.

An AMCC first team all-conference selection, Camacho's thirteen goals in AMCC play were the second most by any player, while adding a conference-high fourteen assists. 

Bez was also an AMCC first team all-conference performer. His 29 points in AMCC play was good for fourth overall in the conference, while his nine assists were second only to Camacho. 

Plizga, named to the AMCC all-conference first team, led the Pitt-Greensburg men's soccer team in assists and points this season. He was also second on the team with ten goals.

LeDonne was named Co-Defensive Player of the Year and was an AMCC first team all-conference selection this season. He started all 21 games, helping the team record 12 shutouts, six of which were in conference play. On the backline, LeDonne allowed only three goals on 35 shots in AMCC action, while also delivering three scores and an assist, including one game winner.

Rounding out the USC All-Region honors are Behrend senior GK Sam York and junior F Blake Cooper.

In 18 starts this year, York recorded a 10-5-3 record which ranked second in the conference and finished with five conference wins and only one loss. York made 46 saves, finishing atop the AMCC rankings with eight shutouts and third in the goals-against average (0.92). Also, in conference play he ranked first with a 0.33 goals-against average and third in save percentage (.750). For his efforts in net, York was selected to the AMCC all-conference first team.

Cooper led the team and finished third in the conference with 32 points. He was also the team leader in goals (12) and ranked third in the AMCC in assists (eight). In conference play, Cooper tallied six scores and six assists for 18 points, including two game winners. Cooper was also on the AMCC all-conference first team this season.
