AMCC MEN'S SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT KICKS OFF ON SATURDAY

The AMCC Men's Soccer Championship Tournament kicks off this weekend as Mount Aloysius College has clinched the #1 seed for the tournament championship. First round games will kick off this Saturday with #6 Hilbert traveling to #3 Alfred State College and #4 Pitt-Greensburg hosting #5 Penn State Altoona. Mount Aloysius and #2 Penn State Behrend will each receive first round byes.

Top seed Mount Aloysius enters the tournament with an 8-1 record and is looking for their third straight conference title. The Mounties are led offensively by junior M/F Juan Camacho who is tied for second in the conference with 12 goals on the season, with 10 of those coming in AMCC play to top the conference. Camacho also leads the league with 13 assists and 37 points. Defensively, Mountie GK Luke Priestly has recorded 43 saves this season, as he leads the AMCC with a 0.56 goals-against average and a .843 save percentage.

At 7-1-1, Penn State Behrend has earned the No. 2 seed in the tournament and will be looking for their first title since 2019. Junior M Blake Cooper leads the Lions and is tied for fourth in the conference with 10 goals, while ranking third with eight assists. His 28 points this season puts him at third in the conference. Behrend senior GK Sam York has a .707 save percentage, while giving up just 12 goals on the season and ranking fifth with a 0.91 goals-against-average.

With a 7-2 record in conference play, Alfred State enters the tournament as the No. 3 seed. The Pioneers boast the dynamic duo of Garrett Potts and Nuri Sarbudak, who are ranked first and second in the league in scoring. Potts has recorded 16 goals this season and has an AMCC-leading 34 points. Sarbudak is tied for second with Camacho with 12 goals. Pioneer GK Brayden Fox ranks third in the conference with a .750 save percentage and is fourth with a 0.89 goals-against-average. 

Pitt-Greensburg has earned the No. 4 seed with a 6-2-1 record in AMCC action. Freshman M Matt Armenio has had a standout rookie campaign, as his 10 goals on the season tie him for fourth in the conference. Sophomore M Zander Plizga is tied for fourth in the conference with six assists to go along with his eight goals. Freshman GK Brett Barnes has only given up 12 goals on the season and carries a .707 save percentage.

No. 5 seed Penn State Altoona comes into the tournament with a 6-3 record. Sophomore M/F Luke Hall leads the Lion offense with five goals and four assists, while junior GK Sasha Mohoruk leads the conference with an .850 save percentage and his .88 goals-against average is fourth-best.

Rounding out the field is No. 6 Hilbert with a 4-5 record in AMCC play. Leading the Hawk offense is F Jason Vullo with eight goals on the season, with seven of those coming in conference play. Andrew Herstek has recorded five assists this season while GK Logan Peck has made 92 saves.

First round games will be played on Saturday, October 28, with the top two seeds receiving byes. The semifinals will take place on Wednesday, November 1, with the championship game on Saturday, November 4.  The AMCC champion will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, with the national championship to be played at Kerr Stadium in Salem, VA Nov. 30-Dec. 2.
