AMCC MEN'S SOCCER TOURNAMENT KICKS OFF SATURDAY

The AMCC Men's Soccer Championship Tournament kicks off this weekend as Penn State Behrend has clinched the #1 seed for the tournament championship.  Penn State Behrend and Mount Aloysius College finished the regular season as co-champions with identical 6-0-1 records, but the Lions won the tie-breaker based on goal differential to earn the No. 1 seed. First round games will kick off this Saturday with #6 Hilbert traveling to #3 Alfred State College and #4 Pitt-Greensburg hosting #5 Penn State Altoona. Behrend and #2 Mount Aloysius College will each receive first round byes.

With a 6-0-1 record in conference play, 10-time AMCC champion Penn State Behrend has earned the No. 1 seed in the AMCC tournament. The Lions bring a balanced offensive attack, as sophomore M Blake Cooper and senior M Justin Hockenberger lead the Lion offense, as they are tied for fourth in the conference with nine goals each on the season, while junior M John Ziobro has added six. Sophomore D/M Johnathan Swann leads the AMCC with eight assists. Senior GK Sam York has been a force in the net all season, as he leads the AMCC with only six goals against, including a 0.37 goals-against-average, and a conference-leading .885 save percentage. 

Defending AMCC champion, Mount Aloysius also enters the tournament with a 6-0-1 record and the No. 2 seed. Senior M Tevin Beadle is ranks third in the conference with 11 goals while sophomore M/F Juan Camacho has six. Junior GK Luke Priestly ranks third in the league with 21 goals against and a 1.45 goals-against-average. 

Alfred State has earned the No. 3 seed with a 4-2-1 mark in conference play. Sophomore F Nuri Sarbudak has been a force for the Pioneer offense, as he is tied at the top of conference rankings with 12 goals this season. Freshman M Gavin Rice has added four assists for the Pioneers. Sophomore GK Thad Grierson ranks fourth in the AMCC with a 1.47 goals-against-average.

Entering the tournament as the No. 4 seed is 4-2-1 Pitt-Greensburg. The Pitt-Greensburg men's soccer team clinched its second consecutive playoff appearance and secured the program's first home playoff game since 2014. The Bobcat offense has been led all season by freshman standout Caleb Yuricha, who is tied with the most goals in the conference with 12 on the year. Yuricha has also added four assists for a conference-leading 28 points this season. Junior GK Danny Rodgers has been solid in the net all season for the Bobcats, as he ranks second in the AMCC with 18 goals against, a 1.13 goals-against-average, and an .793 save percentage. 

Penn State Altoona went 2-4-1 in the AMCC this season, locking down the No. 5 seed. Freshman F/M Luke Hall leads the Lion offense with five goals on the year while sophomore F Grady Ballard has added three goals and a team-leading four assists. Sophomore GK Alexander Ferry is tied for second in the conference wtih 85 saves and carries a .742 save percentage.

Rounding out the field is No. 6 Hilbert with and 2-5 conference mark, as the Hawks earn their first playoff berth since the 2015 season. Junior F Hector Harris leads the Hawk offense, as he ranks second in the AMCC with seven assists and is tied for fourth in the league with nine goals. His 25 points on the season are good for second in the conference. Sophomore GK Logan Peck sits atop the conference with 104 saves and holds a .638 save percentage. 

First round games will be played on Saturday, October 29, with the top two seeds receiving byes. The semifinals will take place on Wednesday, November 2, with the championship game on Saturday, November 5.  The AMCC champion will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, with the national championship to be played at Kerr Stadium in Salem, VA on December 1-3.
