The AMCC men's soccer game of the week features a familiar rivalry, as the Mount Aloysius College Mounties (11-4, 5-1 AMCC) travel to Buffalo, NY on Saturday to take on the Medaille College Mavericks (8-4-2, 6-0-1 AMCC). After coming off of a win against nationally-ranked Penn State-Behrend last week, the Mavs are looking to turn some heads on the AMCC’s spotlighted matchup. Mount and Medaille have had multiple big-time matches over the last few years, most notably back-to-back match ups in the AMCC semi-finals the last two years.

Last year, the Mounties downed the Mavericks in the regular season, but it would be the Mavs who would get their revenge in the postseason to advance to the AMCC title game. This year, the battle will feature two of the conference’s elite goal-scorers. Medaille senior Mitchell Ali and Mount Aloysius senior Joshua Devlin are currently tied atop the AMCC ranks in goals with 12 a piece. Maverick goalkeeper Marcos Escobar leads the conference with only seven goals against on the season and ranks second with a .781 save percentage.

Mount Aloysius heads into Saturday's game on a seven-game winning streak, including five AMCC wins. In addition to Devlin, sophomore M/F Pau Aran's strong play has helped the Mounties during their streak. Aran is third in assists, seventh in total points, and also picked up the game-winning goal against D'Youville in overtime on Saturday. Sophomore goalkeeper Tucker Hays has played well in goal, with an impressive 9-2 record on the season.

The Mounties only conference loss of this season came against Behrend, while Medaille ended their game with Franciscan in a 0-0 2OT tie. This Saturday is shaping up to be another must-see match as the Mavericks and Mounties go head-to-head at the Medaille Sports Complex at 1 p.m.
