MOUNTIES MAKE PROGRAM HISTORY, CROWNED MEN'S SOCCER CHAMPIONS

The Mt. Aloysius Mounties made program history on Saturday afternoon when they defeated returning champion Penn St. Behrend in dramatic fashion for the 2015 AMCC men's soccer championship.

The title game was built around hard-nosed solid defense, as the two teams ended regulation at a 0-0 tie. The Lions and Mounties battled hard in the cold, blistery weather and never let up through two more periods, as they remained deadlocked at 0-0 after double overtime.

The championship came down to penalty kicks, which were just as thrilling as the first 110 minutes. After each team shot four penalty kicks, the score was tied 3-3. Behrend received goals from junior D Evan Augustine, junior F Anton Benedikt, and senior M Christian Harrington, while freshman M Thomas Sloan, junior D Todd Azeles, and sophomore M Kyle Marshall each scored for the Mounties. After the Lions missed their fifth attempt, the game was on the line for Mountie senior M/F Patrick Chea. Chea drilled the ball into the net to give Mt. Aloysius their first AMCC men's soccer championship in program history.

The Mounties will earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
