ALFRED STATE'S BRITTANY FISHER NAMED AMCC NATIONAL SAAC REPRESENTATIVE

Alfred State College junior softball player Brittany Fisher has been named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) representative to the NCAA DIII Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). Fisher will serve a two-year term and becomes the first Pioneer student-athlete to ever serve in a position on the national SAAC.

Fisher, whose term began on February 1st, replaces Penn State Altoona basketball player Cameron Gardner-Nicholson as the AMCC representative. As a representative, Fisher will participate in an Orientation teleconference in April, attend the national SAAC meeting in July (Indianapolis), be part of the fall teleconference (September), and attend the National SAAC meeting during the 2022 NCAA Convention (Indianapolis). She will also be active in all AMCC SAAC calls and initiatives.

Fisher is honored to be chosen for this role. "I look forward and I am very proud to represent Alfred State and the AMCC at the national level. I am excited to learn more about the DIII SAAC and how I can help in any conference and national initiatives. I want to thank AMCC leadership for allowing me this opportunity and I look forward to continuing the work that Cameron has done on behalf of the conference."

Fisher, a pitcher/infielder, has tossed 138.2 innings and earned nine victories during her two years at Alfred State (the 2020 season was cut short due to COVID). She has also collected 22 hits, drawn 25 walks, and scored 23 runs at the plate during her time wearing the blue & gold.

Gardner-Nicholson is currently working as a medical scribe while studying for his MCAT's with plans to apply to medical school next year. He inspires to be Pediatric Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.

"It has been a pleasure to be able to represent the AMCC at the national level." Gardner-Nicholson commented. "It was a great opportunity and I was happy to get the experience, a side of being a student-athlete that most don't. Everything that I learned I will use in my future endeavors."
