Altoona Defeats Women's Soccer 1-0

PITTSBURGH, PA - Women's soccer was defeated 1-0 this afternoon on their home turf by the Penn St. Altoona Lions. Entering today's game, the Redhawks had won their last two home matches and owned a 4-1 record at the Baierl Athletic Complex where they averaged 1.4 goals/game. It is the seventh time this season La Roche has been held scoreless. The Redhawks have now own a 5-4 record in single goal contests this season. 

The Lady Redhawks are currently the seventh seed in the AMCC, now 1.5 games back of the sixth seed, Penn St. Altoona. With two more games left on their regular season schedule, the last being against undefeated Pitt Greensburg (15-0, AMCC: 7-0), La Roche will need some assistance in order to make the postseason.

Highlights:

  • The Redhawks were outshot by the Lions today 9-8 (8-4 in shots on goal).
  • Altoona Freshman midfielder KK Wolfe scored the lone goal of today's contest in the 11th minute of the match. It is her third of the season.
  • Junior goalkeeper Isabelle Orange played all 90 minutes and made 7 saves for La Roche. It is the second most saves Orange has had to make in a single game this season (8/31 at Geneva: 9 saves). The Redhawks dropped both those games by a combined score of 0-3. 
  • Freshman forward Ashley Mineard led La Roche with 3 shots, all were on net.

NEXT UP: This Saturday, October 26th, women's soccer plays their final home game of the season against Pitt Bradford beginning at 3:15 p.m. La Roche's three seniors (defender's Jessica Nakamura, Samantha Terry & goalkeeper Hanna Csoman) will be recognized as a part of "Senior Day" after the game.
