Wooster Struggles with Penn State Behrend in 3-1 Loss

Alexa Bencic ERIE, Pa. – The College of Wooster women's soccer team fell to Penn State Behrend 3-1 on Sunday and will leave the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament winless after two games.

All the excitement in this contest came in the first 20 minutes.

Wooster had an attempt to go up early, but Penn State Behrend survived the attack and quickly worked the ball to the other end of the field and scored on their first shot of the game. Trinity Prestash connected into the left netting from the middle of the box for her third goal of the year in as many games.

Penn State Behrend kept the pressure on shortly after the score. They positioned a free kick from midfield to the top of the penalty box to near the front of the goal where Karla Ochoa's shot went between the goalie's legs to make it 2-0.

Luckily, for the Scots they capitalized on a corner kick in the tenth minute. After the initial kick a scramble in front of the net ensued. The ball kicked backward and first year Hallie Krzys was in the right place to net her first collegiate goal.

However, in the 20th minute Wooster was called for a hand ball in the box which led to Ochoa's second goal of the game after scoring on the right side of the goal on a penalty kick.

The 3-1 score stayed into halftime and for the rest of the game.

Amanda Flory was in net for Wooster. She made four saves. Penn State Behrend's Morgan Harding made three saves.

Wooster only finished with four shots compared to Penn State Behrend's 12. Penn State Behrend also had eight corner kicks to Wooster's two.

The Lions are now 3-0. Wooster drops to 1-2. Wooster returns home Wednesday to face Muskingum University.
