Redhawks Defeat Geneva in First Game of 2022

Pittsburgh, PA - In tonight's last minute matchup the Redhawks of La Roche (3-5, 2-1) took on the Golden Tornadoes of Geneva College (4-4, 2-1). 

Starting for the Redhawks were Kadyn Hannah (Murrysville, PA) Devon Darrell (Lockport, NY), Isaiah Thomas (Ambridge, PA), Joe Pipilo (Bridgeville, PA), and Michael Brooks (Grove City, PA). 

The Golden Tornadoes started Lyle Tipton (Glenside, PA), Matt Veynovich (Pompano Beach, FL), Isaac Massie (Cross Lanes, WV), Amos Luptak (Sewickley, PA), and Trevor Tipton (Glenside, PA). 

After a tough start to the first half, the Redhawks were able to walk away with their first victory of 2022. 

Lyle Tipton continues to be the Tornadoes top scorer, and tonight was no exception. Tipton ended this game having netted 37 points. He also had four rebounds, two assists and one steal. 

Only one other player for Geneva made his way into double digits. Matt Veynovich had 15 points in tonight's contest, along with five rebounds and two assists. Veynovich was the leading rebounder for the Tornadoes. 

Devon Darrell for the Redhawks led the scoring, and rebounding charge. Darrell put 23 points in the book tonight, also gathering seven rebounds. 

Following suit was Desmond Ross with 13 points, two rebounds and three assists. 

Two more Redhawks went for double digits on the night. Those two were Joe Pipilo, and Jordan Grayson, with 12, and 10 points respectively. 

Next up for the Redhawks is a conference matchup against Alfred State on Saturday, January 8th, at 3 PM.
