Women's Soccer Puts Six Past Pitt Bradford

MCKEAN COUNTY, Pa.- The Juniata women's soccer team brought their scoring cleats as they won at Pitt-Bradford, 6-2, Tuesday afternoon at Kessel Athletic Complex.

Saraly Gonzalez (Stratford, N.J. / Sterling High School) opened the scoring for the Eagles in the 10thminute. Talia Bertrando (Lititz, Pa. / Warwick High School) ran onto a ball and fired a shot that the keeper managed to deflect. Gonzalez was the first on to the ball on the right side of the box and slotted it into the empty net for her first career goal. 

Bertrando found Colleen O'Brian (Collegeville, Pa. / Perkiomen Valley) to double the Eagle lead four minutes later. Grace Gibbs (Arnold, Md. / Broadneck HS) found the back of the net off a pass from Emma Moreland (Lebanon, Pa. / Cedar Crest) as Juniata built a 3-0 lead inside the first 20 minutes of play. 

The Panthers got one back, but then an own goal by the host's made it 4-1 with 11 minutes to go in the half, which was the score at the break.  

Moreland found O'Brien for her second goal of the day, and Lina Rahman (Alexandria, Va. / Thomas A. Edison HS) tacked on the Eagles sixth of the day, and her first career goal, in the 74th minute.  

The Panthers snuck one more past the Eagle defense in the game's final six minutes to complete the scoring. 

Avery Zales (Montoursville, Pa. / Montoursville Area HS) had five saves in goal for JC. 

Juniata will celebrate their seniors prior to the final home game of the season this Saturday as they take on Catholic, Saturday at 1:00.
