ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Mount Union baseball team posted a 16-10 win in their home opener over Penn State Behrend in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon.

Notweworthy:

* The Behrend Lions tallied two runs in the opening frame for their only lead of the game
* The Lions tied it in the second and third inning, before a pair of four-run innings put the Purple Raiders in the lead for good
* Behrend also tallied a four-run inning in the ninth
* Isaac Stouffer (Punxsutawney, PA/Punxsutawney) and Mac Ciocco (Venetia, PA/Peters Township) each tallied three hits, two RBIs and a double
* Starter Jeff Zick (Moon, PA/Our Lady of Sacred Heart) pitched two innings and allowed six runs on six hits for the loss
* The Lions had nine RBIs on 10 hits, beginning the game with a Daniel Boehme (Peters Township, PA/Seton LaSalle) and Ryan Meneskie (Moon Township, PA/Moon) RBIs to score twice
* Chase Palmer (Brookville, PA/Brookville) doubled to right center, before Stouffer and Ciocco each singled to load the bases

* The Purple Raiders and Behrend each added a run at their next chance at bat to keep it even at 6-all
* Mt. Union scored four runs in the fourth and sixth for a 14-6 advantage
* The Purple Raiders scored 16 runs on 20 hits for the day
* Mt. Union utilized four pitchers with Leo Fornara getting the win in 6.1 innings of work and striking out four
