Volleyball splits a pair at Cazenovia Tournament

Cazenovia, NY- MCLA dropped a four-set decision to Alfred State in their first contest in a tournament hosted by Cazenovia College on Friday evening. After taking the first set 25-18, MCLA was edged out in the second 22-25. From there, the Pioneers cruised taking the final two sets 25-19 and 25-12 respectively.

Junior Chloie Garber (Eagle River, AK) led the Trailblazers with 17 kills while fellow classmate Ellie Walter-Goodspeed (Auburn, WA) led the team with 14 digs. Freshman Elizabeth Brown (Lee, MA) also had 14 digs.

 

The Trailblazers would bounce back in the night cap besting the hosts with a 3-1 victory against Cazenovia College. MCLA would race out to an early two set lead in this one nipping the Wildcats 25-23 in the first and taking the second 25-18.

The Wildcats would take the fourth set 25-20 before the Trailblazers ultimately shut the door taking the fourth set 25-19 securing their second win of the season.

MCLA will host Mount Holyoke at the Amsler Campus Gymnasium next Wednesday at 7pm as the Trailblazers make their 2022 season home debut.
