Men's Basketball's Win Streak Comes to an End; Redhawks Fall to the Lions

PITTSBURGH, PA - Men's basketball faced off with Penn State-Altoona at home this evening. The Lions were the only conference opponent the Redhawks had yet to take on in the conference season. The Lions were able to do what those before them could not defeat La Roche.

The first half started out with a bang and did not slow down. Both teams were playing pedal to the metal to take home the win. This was reflected in the halftime score of 35-34 in favor of the Lions.

Joe Pipilo led the charge for La Roche in the first half, going five-for-nine for a total of 11 points in the first half. It, however, wasn't enough to keep Altoona at bay. In just the first half of the contest, there were 8 recorded lead changes and 1 tie. In order to bring home another win and stay undefeated they would need to tighten up. The Lions at the half recorded 20 points in the paint to the Redhawks' 14, 8-second chance points, and 15 fast break points to the Redhawks' 0.

Unfortunately for La Roche, they would not be able to recover their lead.

The Redhawks came within 4 points of the Lions, but couldn't get the shots to fall in their favor.

The team gained some momentum back; Desmond Ross racked up 16 points, and Devon Darrell netted 12.

Pipilo led his team in points, and in rebounds. He more than doubled his points from the second half (11) and ended tonight's contest with 25 points, and 8 rebounds.

Joe Starzynski was the final Redhawks to sink double-digit points with 11.

In the end, the team couldn't recover and fell to Altoona 87-77.
