Behrend Baseball and Pitt-Greensburg Split; Lions Honor Seniors

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend baseball team split an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) doubleheader with Pitt-Greensburg on Sunday. The Lions tallied a 9-4 game-one victory and fell 11-2 in the nightcap.

Game One:
Final Score: Penn State Behrend 9, Pitt-Greensburg 4
Records: Penn State Behrend (15-13, 6-3 AMCC), Pitt-Greensburg (18-14, 4-7 AMCC)

* Both teams brough out the bats early, registering a combined five runs in the first inning
* The Bobcats scored a pair of runs and the Lions answered with three runs in the bottom of the frame
* Silvio Ionadi (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum) tripled to right center and scored on a ground out by Isaac Stouffer (Punxsutawney, PA/Punxsutawney)
* Mac Ciocco (Venetia, PA/Peters Township) tallied the second hit and scored on Daniel Boehme's (Peters Township, PA/Seton LaSalle) double to right field
* Chase Palmer (Brookville, PA/Brookville) also scored on the play for a 3-2 Behrend lead
* Pitt-Greensburg tied it with a run in the third, but the Lions used a six-run fifth inning to take a commanding lead
* The Bobcats held the edge in hits, 9-7
* Colin Kelly (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) remains undefeated and collected his third win, allowing two runs on seven hits and fanning four

Game Two:
Final Score: Pitt-Greensburg 11, Penn State Behrend 2
Records: Penn State Behrend (15-14, 6-4 AMCC), Pitt-Greensburg (19-14, 5-7 AMCC)

* Ryan Meneskie (Moon Township, PA/Moon) went 3-for-4 in the game with an RBI
* Meneskie drove in the run in the first inning to help Behrend go ahead 1-0
* Pitt-Greensburg scored 11 runs over three straight innings, including seven runs in the fifth
* The Lions added another run in the bottom of the fifth
* Stouffer scored on an RBI ground out by Shaun Mikulan (Allison Park, PA/Hampton)
* Derrick Shields (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) pitched the first four innings in the start for the loss
* Six different pitchers were utilized by Behrend in the final five innings
* John Berger (Wexford, PA/Pine-Richland) went 2-for-2
