
The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's & women's lacrosse, men's tennis and baseball, and women's softball for the period running from April 14-20, 2025.
Men's Tennis: PS-Behrend FR Graham Louis was a double winner vs. Nazareth in non-conference action on Tuesday. After dropping the first set, 4-6, he won the next 6-4 and battled back from being down 5-1 in the third set, winning six games in a row for the 7-5 win.
Women's Lacrosse (Offensive): Mount Aloysius M Cassidy Cook led the Mounties to a 2-0 week, including a conference victory over Hilbert. In their victory over Cedar Crest, Cook scored four times and grabbed six draw controls, while also causing two turnovers. Then, on Saturday, Cook scored seven goals, one off the program single-game record. She also grabbed five draw controls and dished out an assist in the game, as the Mounties outscored their opponents by a combined 30-10 score.
Women's Lacrosse (Defensive): Mount Aloysius D Shelby Smeal led the Mounties on defense, as they went 2-0 on the week. She picked up nine ground balls over the two games, caused six turnovers and grabbed five draw controls. In the Mounties' AMCC win against Hilbert, she had five ground balls and four caused turnovers, as she continually disrupted the Hawks' offense. Smeal currently ranks in the top five in the AMCC in all defensive categories outside of saves.
Men's Lacrosse (Offensive): Hilbert A Joey DiMaria eclipsed the 100 career goal mark and set a Hilbert single game scoring record by posting 10 goals in his final home appearance in a 20-9 Senior Day victory over Elmira. DiMaria also added eight ground balls in the contest.
Men's Lacrosse (Defensive): Hilbert GK Griffin Miller continued his solid play in net in a 1-1 week, stopping 29 shots while allowing just 13 goals for (69.0%) save percentage. On senior day he stopped 14 shots, while allowing five goals for a 73.7% save percentage. Prior to his senior day performance he was ranked fourth nationally in save percentage.
Softball (Player): Alfred State Abbie Millard went 11-for-12 (.917) at the plate as the Pioneers went 4-0 on the week. She recorded six runs scored, seven RBI, three stolen bases, a .938 OBP and a 1.333 slugging percentage in four games. Millard was 5-for-6 at the plate against against Hilbert with four RBI and two doubles on the day. She followed that up against Carlow, going 6-for-6 at the plate, notching three RBI and three doubles on the day.
Softball (Pitcher): Mount Aloysius JR Jessica Koptcho went 3-0 in the circle last week, helping the Mounties to three conference wins. In her two starts, Koptcho tossed complete game shutouts against both La Roche and Hilbert, allowing just five hits combined in 13.0 innings. She struck out 15 combined, with a high of nine strikeouts against Hilbert. She then appeared in relief against Hilbert in game two, with 1.2 innings and two strikeouts, earning her third victory of the week and dropping her ERA to 1.24. Koptcho currently leads the AMCC in ERA and is second in overall wins on the season.
Baseball (Player): Pitt-Greensburg INF Tommy Smith had a week in which he batted .533 and recorded a 1.467 slugging percentage. In a doubleheader against Penn St. Altoona, Smith hit four home runs and drove in 12. He tied the program record for home runs in a game (3) and RBI in a game (8). Six of the ten times he reached base, he scored. For the week, Smith tallied 13 RBI, six runs, and six extra base hits, including four home runs.
Baseball (Pitcher): PS-Behrend SO Colin Bolla helped secure a 9-0 game one win over Altoona, tossing the first complete game shutout of the season for Behrend. The second year starting pitcher only allowed three hits and two walks to go along with eight strikeouts in the complete game effort to earn his fifth victory on the mound. Bolla also recorded his 100th career strikeout on Saturday.
