AMCC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR JANUARY 27-FEBRUARY 2

The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's & women's basketball, swimming & diving, wrestling, and men's volleyball for the period running from January 27-February 2, 2025.

Men's Swimming: PS-Behrend JR Will Perham set a new pool record in the 100 breaststroke on Saturday. He came in first place with a record time of 56.74, breaking a six-year old mark set by Chase Bietz (57.11). Perham also won the 200 IM for his second individual victory, touching in 2:05.7.

Men's Diving: Alfred State JR Conor Compton placed first in the 1 and 3 meter dive in a tri-meet against PS-Behrend and Wheeling, with respective scores of 303.65 and 336.25

Women's Swimming: Alfred State JR Mallory O'Keefe set the new Alfred State and AMCC Conference record in the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.00, finishing in first. She also brought home first place in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:12.50. She was also a part of the 200 medley relay team that set a new School and AMCC record, and she was a part of the 200 free relay team that took first.

Women's Diving: PS-Behrend SO Nora Blasch won the one-meter board with a score of 172.05 and tallied a first-place score of 179.05 on the three-meter board in the meet with Alfred State and Wheeling.

Men's Wrestling: Penn SR Noah Hunt (141) posted a 5-0 record with four first-period falls and a tech fall in his first competition back from injury and down to 141 pounds. The Wildcat senior started the week with a pin over Keystone's Justin Santiago on Senior Night. He followed up with a 4-0 day and an individual title at Lycoming College's Rennie Rodarmel Invite. Hunt improved to 11-5 on the season and is just five wins shy of becoming the program's first 100-career-match winner.

Men's Basketball: Alfred State G Michael Miller led the Pioneers last week by averaging 24.5 points while shooting 60% from the field. He also averaged seven rebounds and 5.5 assists per game. He opened the week with 21 points, nine rebounds, and eight assist against Hilbert. He followed with 28 points and five rebounds, and three assists against Pitt Greensburg.

Women's Basketball: Alfred State G Taylor Benjamin averaged a double-double with 12.5 points per game and 14 rebounds per game as the Pioneers went 2-0 on the week. In the game against Hilbert she tallied 10 points with a career-high of 19 rebounds. She followed with a 15 point, nine rebound game against Pitt-Greensburg. 

Men's Volleyball (Offensive): PS-Altoona OH Jack McKenna had a strong week, as the Lions faced non-conference opponents Wilson, Wilkes, and St. Vincent in home matches. On Tuesday night against Wilson, the freshman had 12 points on eight kills, three service aces, and one solo block. In the Lions' match against Wilkes on Saturday afternoon, Jack had 11 points on 11 kills, and he followed that up with 11.5 points on 10 kills, one solo block, and one block assist against St. Vincent later that day. On the week, he totaled 34.5 points (2.7 points per set), 29 kills (2.23 kills per set), three aces (0.23 aces per set), and three total blocks (0.23 blocks per set). He also compiled a solid .264 attack percentage.

Men's Volleyball (Defensive): PS-Altoona L Adam Chan totaled 27 digs, including a team-high 12 digs against the Bearcats as he finished his week with a 2.08 digs per set average in home matches versus non-conference opponents Wilson, Wilkes, and St. Vincent last week.
