AMCC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR DECEMBER 4-10, 2023

The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's & women's basketball, indoor track and field, and men's wrestling for the period running from December 4-10, 2023.

Men's Basketball: PS-Altoona F Dwayne Jones had a big week for the Lions, posting a pair of double-doubles to help his team notch a pair of AMCC wins. In Wednesday night's home victory against Mount Aloysius, Dwayne contributed 18 points and a game-high 11 rebounds to go along with two assists, two steals, and two blocks. On Saturday, in a road win at Wells, he scored 24 points while grabbing a career-high 17 rebounds, and he also recorded five blocks, three steals, and one assist. On the week, Jones averaged 21.0 points, 14.0 rebounds, 3.5 blocks, 2.5 steals, and 1.5 assists per game.

Women's Basketball: La Roche G/F Makayla Abram had a dominant week for the Redhawks, helping them go 2-0 and improve to 4-0 before AMCC play resumes in the New Year. In Wednesday's AMCC Game of the Week against Penn State-Behrend, Abram scored 22 points to go alongside 14 rebounds, 10 of which were on the offensive side. She followed that performance on Saturday with a stat-filled line of 28 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, four steals and a pair of blocks, while shooting 61.1% from the floor. For the week, Abram averaged 25.0 points, 12.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game. 

Men's Track & Field (Track): PS-Behrend JR Kody Klein picked up a second-place finish in the 3000m with a time of 9:16.61 and then would go on to place third in the 500m (1:09.35) at Mount Union.

Men's Track & Field (Field): PS-Behrend SR Samuel Hetrick delivered a runner-up finish in the high jump with a season-best and an AARTFC qualifying clearance of 6-6 ¾ on Saturday.

Women's Track & Field (Track): PS-Behrend JR Olivia Nola was the runner-up in the 3000m at the Mount Union Invite, crossing the finish line with a time of 11:10.43.

Women's Track & Field (Field): PS-Behrend FR Rylee Long jumped 36-10 ¼ to break the school record, qualify for AARTFC, and score a victory in the event Saturday afternoon. She broke the Behrend indoor record of 36-9 that was previously set in 2006.

Men's Wrestlling: Alfred State JR Zach Levey went 3-0 with a fall and two major decisions. In the major decision vs Cortland he got the win over a national qualifier last season, then the other major decision was against a regional placer at St John Fisher.
