The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's and women's track & field, men's volleyball, baseball, and tennis and women's softball and lacrosse for the period running from March 25-31, 2024.

Baseball (Pitcher): La Roche JR Larry Bielawski was lights out for the Redhawks, leading them to a 2-1 game one victory in Saturday's doubleheader sweep of Pitt-Bradford. In the seven inning opener, Bielawski tossed a complete game, allowing just one run, three hits, one walk and struck out four. Panther batters hit just .130 off Bielawski and he ended the game with a .57 WHIP.

Softball (Player): Pitt-Bradford SS/C Sarah Stroup hit .714 as she went 5-for-7 in a split doubleheader at Keuka last week. She tallied four runs scored, two doubles and two RBI. In the 11-2 win, Stroup was 4-for-4 with two doubles and three runs scored.

Softball (Pitcher): PS-Behrend SO Abby Tingley recorded her second shutout of the season and sixth win by allowing just three hits over the seven innings for a complete game win in game one vs. John Carroll. Tingley also registered her 100th career strikeout, fanning eight in the win.

Men's Volleyball (Offensive): Hiram OH Jackson Deubner set team-highs with 12 kills against Penn State Altoona on Wednesday and a career-high 18 kills against Penn State Behrend on Saturday. His efforts lifted Hiram to a 2-0 record for the week and a 6-1 conference record for the season. The junior has recorded 12+ kills in four straight games, which is the longest such streak of his career.

Men's Volleyball (Defensive): Wells S Mason Moon had a strong defensive week for an Express team that has been great on the receiving end of opposing attacks during the past couple weeks. The sophomore setter was all over the court during Wells' three matches this past week, recording 28 total digs and an average of 3.11 digs per set. This was all done while also adding 75 assists to his already impressive assist total for the year.

Women's Track & Field (Track): PS-Behrend JR Ivy Laffan ran a 10th place time of 1:02.75 in the 400m at Carnegie Mellon on Saturday. She was also a member of the 4x1 relay team that finished fifth with a time of 51.40.

She was a member of the 4x1 relay team that tallied a fifth-place finish with a time of 51.40. Women's Lacrosse (Offensive): Wells A Jade Epp had an impressive scoring week for an Express team that ranks eighth for scoring offense in all of Division III Women's Lacrosse with 17.12 goals per game. Epp contributed eight goals and two assists last week in two big wins against SUNY Poly and Mount Aloysius which kept Wells undefeated at 8-0 and also launched them to 1-0 start in AMCC play. Epp was integral around the opposing cage for the Express, scoring most of her goals by barreling her way around the cage and finding the smallest openings to put home each of her eight scores. Epp also added three ground balls on the week.

Women's Lacrosse (Defensive): Wells GK Lauren Spiegel had an outstanding week for an Express defense that currently ranks #1 in all of Division III Women's Lacrosse in goals allowed per game. In a midweek win vs SUNY Poly, she used her net, stick, and even her cleats to shutdown a plethora of Wildcat attacks en-route to a 19-save performance. Spiegel also recorded her 300th save during the win on Wednesday. She followed it up on Saturday by having another strong showing in front of the cage, logging four saves and only allowing two goals in a huge debut win for the Express in the AMCC over Mount Aloysius. Spiegel has a spotless record of 8-0 on the year, and is part of an Express goalkeeping unit that ranks first in all of DIII for save % at .630.

Men's Tennis: PS-Altoona FR Wilhelm Grot had a strong week for the Lions, helping his team to a pair of dominant victories. In Tuesday's 9-0 road win over AMCC opponent Mount Aloysius, he was part of an 8-0 victory in No. 3 doubles. In Thursday's 8-1 home victory against non-conference foe Penn College, he posted a 6-2, 6-3 triumph in No. 6 singles while having a hand in an 8-1 win in No. 3 doubles.
