AMCC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR FEBRUARY 19-25, 2024

The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's volleyball, baseball, and tennis and women's lacrosse for the period running from February 19-25, 2024.

Men's Volleyball (Offensive): Geneva MB Carter Milroy led Geneva to two wins this past week, including a win over Wells to open AMCC play. He finished the week with 31 kills in three matches (3.10 k/s) on an impressive .386 hitting percentage. He also added 12 blocks (1.20 b/s) and 21 digs (2.10 d/s) and averaged 4.0 pts/s, including 6.0 pts/s against Wells.

Men's Volleyball (Defensive): Thiel L Cameron Long recorded 45 digs last week to help lead the Tomcats to a 3-0 week. He recorded 27 digs in two AMCC wins against Penn State Behrend and Penn State Altoona, including 16 against Altoona. He recorded 3.46 digs per set last week, and also had 51 receptions.

Baseball (Player): Wells INF Jacobi James went 9-for-17 (.529) last week with seven RBI, two doubles and one triple, while also adding one stolen base as the Express opened the season going 3-1. James currently ranks third in the AMCC in batting average (.529) and fourth in RBI with seven. 

Baseball (Pitcher): Alfred State SR Jon White picked up two wins last week after pitching 13.0 innings for a 2.77 ERA. In the first win against Ferrum, he pitched 6.0 innings only allowing two earned runs on five hits with seven strikeouts. Then against New Paltz he pitched a complete 7.0 inning game allowing two earned runs on eight hits with six strikeouts.

Men's Tennis: PS-Behrend JR Jonthon Laier led his team to a victory over Washington & Jefferson this past week. Laier picked up wins at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles against the Presidents on Friday. In doubles, Laier and Akash Sangha only gave up one set point. Laier went on to post a 6-2, 7-5 victory in the top spot.

Women's Lacrosse (Offensive): Mount Aloysius ATT Katie Figinski scored 12 goals this week across two games for the Mounties, with her team winning both contests. Figinski added five assists and 15 draw controls, while keeping 70% of her shots on target. Figinski currently leads the conference in goals, while being tied for first in assists.

Women's Lacrosse (Defensive): Mount Aloysius GK Zoe Swank would save 13 shots for the Mounties as her team would go undefeated in two games this week. Swank's 72.2 save percentage puts her atop the statistic for the AMCC, outpacing her competition by almost 50%.
