AMCC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR FEBRUARY 5-11, 2024

The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's & women's basketball, track & field, and men's volleyball for the period running from February 5-11, 2024.

Men's Basketball: Mount Aloysius F Reggie Priah led the Mounties in scoring last week, as he averaged 20.0 points with 9.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game, as his team would go 1-1 in conference competition. Priah's best game of the week came on Wednesday, when he scored 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while adding four assists, two steals, and a block in win over Wells.

Women's Basketball: Pitt-Greensburg G Melina Maietta averaged 23 points over two games with a week-high of 29 coming against first place La Roche. She also had a season-high average of 5.0 assists per game, good enough for a 1.1 assist/turnover ratio. She shot over 48 percent from the floor on the week and close to 43 percent from behind the arc.

Men's Volleyball (Offensive): Saint Vincent RS Shawn McSwiggen averaged 4.75 kills and tallied six aces over the Bearcats' 1-1 week. His top performance came in Sunday's five-set loss to Penn State-Altoona, when he put down a program-record 31 kills, on a .422 hitting percentage, and added two aces. He also had seven kills, four aces, and four digs in a 3-0 win over Mount Aloysius. 

Men's Volleyball (Defensive): Hilbert L Michael Pozzuto helped bring together the Hawks defense last week with astounding plays on and off the stat sheet. Pozzuto earned 44 digs (3.38 digs per set), recieved 85 receptions at .953, and added five assists.

Women's Track & Field (Track): Carlow SR Molly Wagner came in first in the 200 with a time of 27.18 and was also part of the first place 4x400 relay team who raced to a 4:41.26 finish as Carlow placed 5th of 10 teams at the Baldwin Wallace Mid-February Meet Friday.

Women's Track & Field (Field): Carlow SR Christina Smith landed a third place spot in high jump with a leap of 1.48 meters and placed 15th in long jump. She also ran the final leg of the 4x400 relay team that took first place as Carlow placed 5th of 10 teams at the Baldwin Wallace Mid-February Meet Friday.

Men's Track & Field (Track): Hilbert FR Zy'Mere Covington opened his collegiate career at RIT Friday night by winning his 60m heat which advanced him on time (7.29) to the finals. The rookie sprinter sliced his time to 7.24, and finished second in the final race, establishing a new Hilbert indoor record. 

Men's Track & Field (Field): PS-Behrend JR Matthew Laslavic was the top-finisher in the field for the Lions at the SPIRE Indoor Games, jumping a 39-9 1/4 in the triple jump for an eighth place finish.
