AMCC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR JANUARY 29-FEBRUARY 4, 2024

The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's & women's basketball, track & field, and men's volleyball and wrestling for the period running from January 29-February 4, 2024.

Women's Track & Field (Track): Alfred State FR Oli Kraynik finished the 600m dash in a time of 1:42.56 for third place, Kraynik moved into second all-time with that finish. 

Women's Track & Field (Field): PS-Behrend FR Rylee Long scored a distance of 35-4 ½ for a ninth-place finish in the triple jump at the Jud Logan "Light Giver" Open

Men's Track & Field (Field): Alfred State SO Aden Alexander won the triple jump for the second week in a row after jumping 12.79 meters. He followed with a fifth-place finish in the long jump, with a distance of 6.35 meters.

Women's Basketball: PS-Behrend G Morgan Altavilla averaged 27.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 2.0 steals in two AMCC games last week. She led the Lions in scoring each game, dropping 29 vs. La Roche, while also contributing eight rebounds, six assists and one steal in that game. Altavilla then recorded 26 points, another eight rebounds, three assists, and three steals in a win over Pitt-Bradford. Altavilla went 8-for-11 (72.7%) from three-point range on the week, including a career-high six triples vs. the Panthers. 

Men's Basketball: Mount Aloysius F Reggie Priah averaged 20 points and 9.5 rebounds per game on 63% shooting last week, leading the Mounties to a 2-0 record. Honored on Wednesday for reaching the 1,000 point mark in his career as a college athlete, Priah currently leads the AMCC in rebounds per game. Priah's 4.5 offensive rebounds per game this week exceeded his season average of 3.0, also good for top in the stat for the conference.

Men's Wrestling: Alfred State JR Sean Malenfant went 3-0 on the day at the John Summa Invite on Sunday. His day started with a 52 second fall over Omari Watson (Wikes). Then in the semifinals, he tallied another first round fall, this time in 1:41 over Ryan Weitz (Baldwin Wallace). In the finals, Malenfant notched a 6-3 decision win over Hunter Lowe (Wilkes) to claim the title.

Men's Volleyball (Offensive): PS-Altoona OH Avery Farabaugh continued to power the Lions' offense, helping Penn State Altoona sweep Saturday's tri-match with Carlow and Chatham on the road. In his team's 3-1 win over Carlow in the day's first match, he tied his season-high in points with 22, getting 18 kills, three service aces, and two block assists. The Lions defeated Chatham 3-1 in their second match, and Farabaugh recorded 19.5 points on 18 kills, one solo block, and one block assist. On the week, Farabaugh totaled 41.5 points (5.2 points per set), 36 kills (4.5 kills per set), four total blocks (0.50 blocks per set), and three aces (0.38 aces per set). He finished the week with a .300 attack percentage.

Men's Volleyball (Defensive): Carlow OH/MH Will Piccolino tallied 50 digs on the week, averaging 4.17 digs per set over three games.
