AMCC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR JANUARY 8-14, 2024

The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's & women's basketball, swimming & diving, and men's wrestling for the period running from January 8-14, 2024.

Men's Wrestling: Alfred State SO Mason Drew went 3-0 on the weekend to help the Pioneers win back-to-back regular season championships. He tallied two falls for 12 dual points and another six points for a forfeit win.

Women's Swimming: PS-Altoona JR Madison Coleman had two individual first places and was also part of a relay first place, helping the Lions edge Division II opponent Lock Haven on the road Saturday afternoon. Her first win of the day came in the 200 Yard Freestyle, during which she finished in 2:10.10 to seal up first place. She later triumphed in the 100 Yard Freestyle after posting a time of 59.37. Coleman was also part of the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team that took first place with a combined time of 1:49.44, putting Penn State Altoona over the top for the meet victory.

Men's Swimming: PS-Behrend JR Tim Compton won the first swimming event of the afternoon for the Lions, finishing first in the 200-freestyle (1:47.55) and then notched his second victory with a time of 2:00.42 in the 200-butterfly.

Men's Diving: PS-Behrend SO Jacob Earley won both diving events against Grove City on Saturday. He scored victories in the 1-and 3-meter dives with totals of 197.85 and 186.30, respectively.

Women's Basketball: La Roche F Dasja Anderson was dominant in her first two games of the season with the Redhawks. In Wednesday's victory over Pitt-Greensburg, Anderson matched a team high 19 points on 9-for-12 shooting from the floor, going alongside four rebounds, six assists and three steals. Anderson followed that performance in Saturday's win over Penn State Altoona, netting 27 points on 12-for-18 shooting, while adding seven rebounds, a pair of assists and a steal. Anderson finished the week shooting a remarkable 70% from the field, while averaging 23.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game.

Men's Basketball: Alfred State C Cody Schneider led the Pioneers to two wins last week, and the top spot in conference standings, as he averaged 29 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 7.0 assists per game, while shooting 61.8 percent from the field. Schneider opened the week with a 22 point game against Bradford while dishing out eight assists and grabbing six rebounds. He followed with a career-high 36 point game against Carlow. Against the Celtics, he grabbed 13 rebounds, and added six assists, three steals, and two blocks.
