OBERDORF SELECTED AS PITT-GREENSBURG SPORTS INFORMATION DIRECTOR

The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg Department of Athletics has annonuced the hiring of Jacob Oberdorf as the new Sports Information Director.

Oberdorf will be responsible for managing all aspects of the promotion for Pitt-Greensburg's 13 varsity athletic programs.  Oberdorf is no stranger to the Pitt-Greensburg campus, as he has spent the past three years in the Information Technology Department at Pitt-Greensburg as a Media Specialist.

Prior to working at Pitt-Greensburg, Oberdorf spent time as a Sports Reporter at the Leader Times in Kittanning, Pa, where he covered a variety of high school sporting events.

A 2015 graduate of Clarion University of Pennsylvania, Oberdorf received a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Strategic Communication. Currently, he is pursuing a Master of Arts in Communication and Media Studies at Edinboro University.

During his time at Clarion, he gained valuable experience working for the Clarion Call. He covered the athletics on a weekly basis as a Sports Writer through writing recap and feature stories. Oberdorf worked as the Sports Editor for the newspaper.

Oberdorf also spent time working in the Sports Information office as a student assistant. He served as the official scorer for softball games, operated the department's Twitter during contests, and compiled game recaps for the university's athletic website.

In the summer of 2014, Oberdorf interned for the Butler Blue Sox Baseball Club. He provided commentary for radio broadcasts of the games, and also spent time operating the scoreboard and creating content to be featured on the team's website.

Oberdorf has also gained experience from work at Pittsburgh Sporting News and Pirates Breakdown, as a Writer.

Oberdorf will split duties on campus as a Media Specialist and Sports Information Director until September 13, when he will transition to full-time work in the athletics department.
