AMCC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR MARCH 8-14, 2021

The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of baseball, men's volleyball and men's and women's tennis for the period running from March 8-14, 2021.

Baseball (Player): Pitt-Greensburg UTIL Jace Cappellini led the Bobcats with a .448 batting average over the first eight games to open the season. Cappellini posted five games with two or more RBI, including a 3-for-5 performance with four RBI in the second game of the doubleheader against Hiram. He had three games with three or more hits, including a perfect 4-for-4 with a run and two RBI in the opening game of a doubleheader against Behrend. For the week, Cappellini totaled 13 hits, 13 RBI, and eight runs scored.

Baseball (Pitcher): Alfred State SR AJ Gartland led the Pioneers to an opening day win. He tossed six innings of four-hit ball. He allowed two unearned runs while striking out ten Wells batters, finishing with the 0.00 ERA.

Women's Tennis: Pitt-Greensburg FR Emily Ruhlman put together a great performance in her second collegiate match on Sunday against Mount Aloysius. In doubles, Ruhlman and partner Abigail Rosman rolled to an 8-1 win, and in singles, made quick work winning 6-2, 6-1. Ruhlman's play has helped the Bobcats to back-to-back 9-0 wins to begin the 2021 season.

Men's Tennis: Mount Aloysius FR Adam Snyder teamed with Cole Kazmierczyk to win at #2 Doubles 8-0. With the match tied at 4-4, Snyder was the last match to finish. He held on to win 6-1, 6-4 to put the Mounties in the win column, with a 5-4 victory. The win kept the Mounties undefeated in AMCC play.

Men's Volleyball: PS-Behrend OH Logan Hering led the Lions to two conference wins and a 2-1 record on the week. Hering had double-digit kills in two of the three matches this week. He posted a .426 hitting percentage to go with 34 kills and 18 digs. Hering had two perfect matches, going 12-for-19 vs. Thiel and 8-for-14 in an AMCC win over St. Vincent. He averaged 4.1 points per set and added seven service aces.
