ECAC RECOGNIZES FOUR AMCC STUDENT-ATHLETES

Four AMCC student-athletes were recognized as ECAC Division III South Region Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 27.

Franciscan University sophomore forward Leo Herrmann was named men's soccer offensive player of the week. Herrmann posted a pair of hat tricks, leading the Barons to a 2-1 week. He was responsible for the two game-winning goals, while also adding an assist in Franciscan's 2-1 overtime loss to Washington & Jefferson.  Herrmann was responsible for all three goals in Franciscan's 3-1 win over Waynesburg. His second hat trick of the week came in Franciscan's 4-0 win over Pitt-Bradford to open AMCC action.  Herrmann is the Baron all-time point leader and currently leads the team with 31 points.

Women's soccer rookie of the week honors went to Franciscan freshman goalkeeper Sarah Luebking. Luebking recorded 17 saves over three games last week, including earning a shutout over Geneva College on September 23. The freshman made five saves in a 4-1 triumph over Waynesburg University to open the week, then recorded eight stops in a 3-0 shutout over Geneva. Despite a 4-0 loss in the Barons’ final game of the week, Luebking finished the week with a .773 save percentage.

Franciscan freshman cross country runner Emily Theurer was named the women's cross country rookie of the week. The freshman finished 22 seconds ahead of the next-closest competitor, and crossed the line a full minute in front of the third-place runner.

Earning the men's cross country rookie of the week accolade is Penn State Altoona freshman Bradley Foust. He posted a time of 26:49.6 in the 8K race at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational, marking the fastest 8K time by any Penn State Altoona men’s runner this season and the fourth-fastest 8K time in program history. The freshman finished 31st out of 160 runners.
