Mount Aloysius College honored breast cancer survivors before their seventh annual Pink Out Volleyball Game on Tuesday, October 2, in the College’s Athletic Convocation and Wellness Center.

It was a family affair as Lady Mountie Kylee Clawson and her younger sister, Penn State Altoona freshman Kaila Clawson each presented their mom, Diane, with a flower. Diane has previously battled breast cancer and wore a sweatshirt with both schools logos on it to evenly support each daughter. Both Clawson’s are the starting libero for their respective school.

“I’ve watched these girls play together for years,” Clawson said. “Now they’re competing but I’m still rooting for them both. It’s a special night for me as a mom especially since the evening is also aimed at raising awareness of breast cancer.”

Mount Aloysius Head Volleyball Coach Brianna Baker said, “We participate in this Pink Out night because it is such a great event that brings the whole community together for a good cause that benefits this entire region.  Breast Cancer has affected a lot of people who we all know; so spreading awareness about early detection and raising funds to support a local effort is something that is close to our hearts.”

Since the Pink Out game tradition started at Mount Aloysius College in 2012, more than $16,000 has been raised to support the Joyce Murtha Breast Care Center.
