BEHREND'S JACKSON, PITT-GREENSBURG'S STERRETT NAMED 2024 FAR AWARD WINNERS

The Faculty Athletic Representatives (FARs) around the AMCC have voted on and selected the 2024 FAR Award Winners. On the men's side is Penn State Behrend men's volleyball player Alex Jackson while Pitt-Greensburg women's tennis player Amber Sterrett represents the women's side. Jackson and Sterrett were chosen from among 16 outstanding student-athletes named to the AMCC All-Academic Team, earning the prestigious honor after a successful four years in the classroom, in the community, and in their respective sport. 

Jackson graduated in May 2024 with a 4.0 GPA in Mechanical Engineering. He was a four-time member of the AMCC All-Academic team and was named the Behrend Academic Athlete of the Year. Jackson was a member of the Lion men's volleyball team where he was a team captain and named the 2023-24 team Most Valuable Player. Jackson won an AMCC championship title with the Lions in 2022 and was an AMCC all-conference first team selection in 2023. In addition to his academic and athletic accomplishments, Jackson was also involved in the Behrend campus and community. He was a member of the Behrend Engineering Ambassadors (2021-24) and was involved with several campus groups including the First Lego League, STEAM Fair, Women in Engineering Program, Girl Scouts STEM Program, Super Sonic Saturday and Science Olympiad. Additionally, he assisted with the Presque Isle Beach Cleanup with volleyball team members and was part of the Shining Star Program through the Behrend Chapel, where he helped provide gifts to disadvantaged children at Christmas. 

Sterrett graduated as co-valedictorian from Pitt-Greensburg with a 4.0 GPA in Accounting, with a minor in Applied Mathematics, in May 2024. She is a two-time UPG Femal Scholar-Athlete of the Year and a four-time member of the AMCC All-Academic Team and Peak Performer. On the tennis court, Sterrett was named the 2021 AMCC Newcomer of the Year and a five-time AMCC all-conference first team selection. She finished her career with a 41-4 career singles record and went 39-4 in doubles play while claiming four AMCC championship titles. Off the court, Sterrett was vice president of the Pitt-Greensburg Business & Accounting Club and a member of the Match Club. She served as a student tutor and also completed internships with Bononi and Company PC and Baker Tilly US.

MEN:
Alfred State College SR basketball player Ben Reding graduated with a 4.00 GPA in Sport Management while minoring in Athletic Coaching, he was a three-time ASC Academic Award Winner and a four-time member of the AMCC All-Academic Team, while also serving on the ASC SAAC and as a student worker in the athletic department...Hilbert College SR volleyball player Alex Overhoff graduated with a 4.0 GPA in Business Management, he was a member of the AMCC Academic All-Conference Team and was the winner of the John W. Kissel Man of the Year Award and the 2024 McGrath Award, while also earning AMCC all-conference third team honors...Carlow University SR soccer player Hamadi Mganga finished his undergrad degree in seven semesters with dual enrollment in the accelerated MBA program, he received the Department of Business Management, Accounting, and Ethics Leadership Award and was a four-year member of the Celtics' men's soccer program...Mount Aloysius College SR golfer Brian Walwro graduated with a 3.98 GPA in Accounting, he was a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma honor society, finished in the top-five at the AMCC Golf Championship (2022) and was a member of the 2022 AMCC All-Tournament Team, he also served as the MAC Business Club Vice President and volunteered his time with multiple organizations...Penn State Altoona SR volleyball player Jared Kish graduated with a 3.88 GPA in Rail Transport Engineering, he was an AMCC all-conference selection, a member of the AMCC All-Academic Team and All-Sportsmanship Team and was named the 2023 Penn State Altoona team MVP...Pitt-Bradford SR soccer player Jared Scarlett graduated with a 3.942 GPA in Exercise Science, he was named to the Dean's List every semester and was the goalkeeper on the men's soccer team...Pitt-Greensburg JR soccer player Adam Yoder holds a 3.93 GPA in Psychology with a minor in Biology, he has been named to the AMCC All-Academic Team and has been an AMCC Peak Performer multiple times and was named the 2023-24 Male Scholar Athlete of the Year, Yoder has earned all-conference and all-ECAC honors on the soccer field and serves as the UPG SAAC President.

WOMEN:
Alfred State College SR track and field athlete and soccer player Isabelle Popoff graduated with a 3.96 GPA with a major in Architecture and a minor in Business and History, she received the Alfred State Academic Award and was in mulitple honor societies, she was the United East Conference Female Indoor Track Athlete of the Year (2024) and a member of the all-conference first team in both track and cross country, while also serving on the ASC SAAC Committee...Carlow University SR track and field athlete Molly Wagner graduated with a 3.87 GPA with a major in Criminology and a minor in Psychology and was named to the USCAA Academic Team, she was a five-time AMCC Athlete of the week throughout the indoor and outdoor track seasons in 2023-24...Hilbert College SR soccer player Kaitlyn Sobczack graduated with a 4.0 GPA in Criminal Justice, she earned CSC Academic All-District Honors and was the 2024 McGrath Award winner, she was an AMCC all-conference second team selection and named her team's Most Valuable Player and given the Coaches Award in 2022...Mount Aloysius College SR soccer player Jeddie Dawson graduated with a 3.98 GPA in Criminology with a minor in Sociology, was a Mercy Presidential Scholar and a member of mulitple honor societies, she served as President of the Criminology Club, was an RA for three years and also played defense on the women's soccer team...Penn State Altoona SR women's swimmer Sarah Petry will graduate in December with a degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology, she has set three individual and four relay school records in the swimming pool, while also serving as an RA on campus, completing mulitple internships, and will also be interning with Volvo this summer...Penn State Behrend SR women's swimmer Hannah Roadway graduated in May with a 3.87 GPA in Elementary Education with a minor in Theater, she was named the Behrend Female Academic Athlete of the Year and is a three-time member of the AMCC All-Academic Team, she was a member of the 2024 AMCC championship team, while also being very involved in the theater on campus, taking on the role of lead performer in her last two plays...Pitt-Bradford JR softball player Krislyn Clement carries a 3.598 GPA in Forensic Science and Chemistry, she is a four-time member of the Dean's List and has earned many athletic honors including the UPB Female Scholar Athlete of the Year, two-time AMCC all-conference performer, finished in the top five in the conference in all pitching categories, is a member of the AMCC All-Academic Team and was named an NFCA/Easton All-American Scholar Athlete.
