ALTOONA LIONS DEFEATED IN ECAC SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT SEMIFINALMay 14, 2017No. 6 Penn State Altoona softball was eliminated from the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Championship Tournament on Sunday afternoon, getting shut out 3-0 by No. 2 Stockton University in the tournament's semifinal round at Arcadia University's Blankley Field.

BEHREND SOFTBALL DEFEATS WILLIAM PATTERSON; MANHATTANVILLE ELIMINATES LIONS FROM NCAA TOURNAMENTMay 13, 2017The Penn State Behrend softball team defeated William Paterson University 2-0 in game one of the NCAA Division III Tournament, before falling in the elimination game 4-1 to Manhattanville College on Saturday afternoon at St. John Fisher.

BEHREND SOFTBALL TRAVELS TO ST. JOHN FISHER FOR NCAA REGIONALMay 09, 2017The Penn State Behrend softball team will travel to Rochester, NY for the 2017 NCAA Division III Regional on May 12-14. The Lions (26-12) will face the hosts St. John Fisher (36-6) in the first round on Fridayat 3:30 p.m.

Laura Kratzke, Medaille College, Softball - PitcherMay 01, 2017Kratzke was a dominant force on the mound last week, going 6-0 while throwing four shut outs and ending the week with an ERA of just 0.24 in 37 innings pitched. On Wednesday she combined with sophomore Courtney Carroccia to throw a no-hitter against Hilbert. Then on Saturday she did it all by herself, no-hitting Penn State Altoona in a 3-0 game one victory.

Alexa Bupp, Penn State Behrend, Softball - PlayerMay 01, 2017Bupp led the Lions to six straight AMCC wins, closing out the year undefeated at home and clinching the regular-season title. She posted nine hits, 11 RBI, six runs scored, two doubles and two home runs for the week. In game two against Franciscan, Bupp ripped a grand slam and another home run to drive in a total of six runs. She tallied a .500 batting average and .944 slugging percentage.

Nikki Schneider, Hilbert College, Women's LacrosseMay 01, 2017Schneider became the first player in program history to score 100 goals and she did so in a critical NEAC game against SUNY Poly. Schneider helped lift the Hawks to a 15-14 victory with her five goals.

AJ Nichols, Penn State Behrend, Softball - PitcherApril 24, 2017Nichols earned a pair of wins this week, allowing just one earned run for a 0.58 ERA. She pitched 12 innings, including a complete game in a 3-1 win over Penn State Altoona in the AMCC Game of the Week. Nichols fanned five batters and only walked two. The victory over Altoona was crucial in keeping Behrend in first place heading into the final week of regular season play.

Grace Dadzaa, Pitt-Bradford, Softball - PlayerApril 24, 2017Dazdaa hit .478 in six games, leading the Panthers to a 4-2 record against AMCC opponents. Dazdaa scored six runs, had four RBIs and stole two bases.

Jaimie Schleicher, Pitt-Greensburg, Softball - PitcherApril 17, 2017Schleicher put together a perfect 3-0 week with a win against Franciscan and also tossed two complete-game wins at Medaille on Saturday. She posted an incredible 0.30 ERA in her three wins and also moved into first place in program history for most wins in a single season (13) Schleicher totaled 22 strikeouts on the week with just five walks and allowed just two runs in the two games played this past Friday at Medaille, both of which were unearned. Schleicher is tops in the conference in ERA (1.08), wins (13), and strikeouts (105).

Allania Banta, Penn St. Behrend, Softball - PlayerApril 17, 2017Banta hit .522 in six wins for the Lions. She tallied 12 hits, 11 runs, nine RBIs, three home runs, two stolen bases and a double to help Behrend go undefeated this week. She had a home run in three of the six games, while going 3-for-5 with four RBIs in game two against Hilbert.

Kate Burge, Penn State Altoona, Softball - PitcherApril 10, 2017Burge had a dominant week in the circle to help Penn State Altoona go undefeated in four AMCC games, doubleheaders against La Roche and Hilbert. For the week, Burge posted a 4-0 record with three complete games, including back-to-back shutouts of Hilbert on Sunday. She pitched 24 innings and allowed only 14 hits, three earned runs, and four walks while recording 19 strikeouts. Her ERA on the week was 0.88. Kate also helped her own cause by going 6-for-12 (.500) at the plate in those four games with two doubles and three RBI.

Madison East, Pitt-Bradford, Softball - PlayerApril 10, 2017East went 9-15 in four AMCC games, including hitting her second homer of the season, four doubles, and a triple. East drove in seven runs, slugged 1.200 for the week, stole two bases, and scored four runs. East ranks second in the AMCC with two home runs and third with 19 RBIs.
