Lions Tennis Takes First Loss at Mount Aloysius

EBENSBURG, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona men's tennis team wrapped up its opening weekend of the 2021 season with a 7-2 loss to Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Mount Aloysius College on Sunday at the Ebensburg Tennis Center.

Three victories in doubles helped Mount Aloysius (1-0, 1-0 AMCC) get out to the early 3-0 lead in the match, and the Mounties proceeded to win in one, two, three, and five singles to lock up their first conference win of the spring.

Penn State Altoona (1-1, 1-1 AMCC) picked up points in singles play, courtesy of Micah Brinker (Lock Haven, PA/PA Cyber) and Kirk Eichenlaub (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg). In the No. 4 singles match, Brinker grabbed his first win of the season with a 6-1, 6-3 decision over his opponent. Meanwhile, Eichenlaub improved to 2-0 after he pulled out a 6-1, 2-6, 10-4 win in the No. 6 spot.

The Lions' next match is Sunday, March 21, when the team travels to face AMCC foe Pitt-Greensburg at 1:00 p.m.
