Men’s Tennis Resumes Season, Falls 8-1 to Behrend

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona men's tennis team returned to action on Sunday afternoon for the first time since the fall semester, and the Lions suffered an 8-1 loss to Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Penn State Behrend in the Gorilla House Gym.

Behrend (6-4, 3-0 AMCC) established a strong lead over Penn State Altoona (1-1, 0-1 AMCC) by the conclusion of doubles play, as the visitors swept the three doubles matches by scores of 8-1, 8-3, and 8-3 to grab a 3-0 advantage in the overall match.

Behrend went on to win numbers one through five in singles play to finish with a seven-point victory over Penn State Altoona. The Lions' lone point came in the No. 6 singles match, where Ethan Schneider (Broad Top, PA/Tussey Mountain) came back from a first-set loss to defeat his opponent, prevailing 5-7, 7-6 (7-4), 10-8 to improve to 2-0 this season.

Penn State Altoona men's tennis returns to action on Wednesday, March 15, playing another home match as the Lions will host non-conference opponent Saint Vincent College. The match is slated to start at 4:30 p.m.
