Behrend Softball Advances to AMCC Championship Series

ERIE, Pa. – Freshman pitcher Abby Tingley (Union City, PA/Union City) threw a four-hit shutout to lead the No. 1 Penn State Behrend softball team past No. 2 Mt. Aloysius 2-0 on the second day of the 2023 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championships.

Key Moments: 

* The Behrend Lions are one win away from capturing their third straight AMCC Title
* Behrend is 2-0 heading into the final day of the double elimination tournament
* Tingley earned her third shut-out victory, striking out seven and walking two
* The newcomer was able to hold off the Mounties in the fourth inning with no outs and bases loaded
* With two runners on in the top of the seventh, Tingley recorded her final two strikeouts of the game to help the Lions advance to Saturday's championships contests
* Behrend registered a pair of runs on two hits
* In the first inning, Maddie Smith (DuBois, PA/DuBois) singled to left field and got to second on Jocelyn McNany's (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) walk before scoring on a ground out for a 1-0 lead
* The Lions got their second run in the fourth
* Meghan Petitte (Sugarcreek, OH/Garaway) doubled to leadoff and scored on a Lexi Edgett (Frisco, TX/Lone Star) sacrifice fly
