Stancovich Collects Four Hits As La Roche University Defeats Hilbert

PITTSBURGH, PA -Justin Stancovich didn't feel much like getting out on Sunday, tallying four hits and leading La Roche University to a 10-1 win over the Hilbert Hawks. Stancovich singled in the fourth, homered in the fifth, doubled in the sixth, and singled in the eighth.

The Redhawks fired up the offense in the second inning, when Jake Bredl doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

La Roche notched four runs in the fifth inning. The batters contributing to the big inning included Mason Brooks and Stancovich, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Zack Oddi led La Roche University to victory on the mound. The righthander allowed four hits and one run over six innings, striking out one and walking one. Shane Murphy threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Brendan Walsh took the loss for Hilbert College Hawks Varsity. The righthander lasted three innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out three and walking zero.

The Redhawks tallied two home runs on the day. Bredl had a four-bagger in the sixth inning. Stancovich had a long ball in the fifth inning.

La Roche racked up 18 hits in the game. Stancovich, Ben Dottle, Bredl, Tyler Simpson, Kyle Weitzel, Ryan Lynn, and Nathan Stutz each managed multiple hits. Stancovich led the team with four hits in five at bats.

The team will hit the road on Thursday morning to take on No. 1 seeded Penn State Behrend to see who advances. First pitch is at 1 PM in Erie, PA
