Women's Soccer Falls to Bethany

Bethany, W.V. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's soccer team lost its second game in as many days on Saturday, falling to Bethany 7-0.

The Panthers fell behind immediately as the hosts were able to score in the 2nd minute of action. Pitt-Bradford was able to put an attempt on net through a Riley Stowe shot on goal, but it was the Bisons who would score the next goal of the game, doubling their lead within 9 minutes. Bethany kept the pressure on the Panther goal for the rest of the first half, but Sadie Wood was able to make 8 saves over 35 minutes to keep the score 2-0 heading into halftime.

In the second half, Emily Goetz had the first chance for either team as her 49th-minute shot was saved. The Bison quickly countered after the chance and added converted on the opportunity, making the score 3-0. Bethany also took the next 5 shots towards the target but was unable to put any on goal until the 63rd minute when they scored their fourth. Wood added 4 more saves over the next 20 minutes until Bethany was able to score 3 late goals against a fatigued Pitt-Bradford side.

Sadie Wood made a total of 19 saves in the contest. Riley Stowe, Kihara Gotshall, and Emily Goetz all registered shots on goal for the Panthers.

The loss drops the PAntehrs to 0-3 on the season. They are scheduled to be back in action on Wednesday, September 14th, when they host Alfred at 4:00 p.m.
