ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend softball team is back in action for the second day in a row,  hosting the Alfred Saxons in non-conference action this afternoon. The doubleheader is set for 3 p.m.

* The Lions have won eight in a row, recently defeating Hilbert 16-4 (5) and 7-0 in AMCC action
* Senior pitcher Kayla Lindberg (Austinburg, OH/Geneva) reached 200 career strikeouts in game two
* With the first two strikeouts of the game in the first inning, Lindberg reached the career milestone
* Lindberg also retired 15 of the last 16 batters in the game to post her third straight shutout of the season
* Lindberg finished with five strikeouts and giving up one hit in the complete game
* Maria Jones (Wilcox, PA/Johnsonburg) went 7-for-8 on the day with five runs, four RBI, a triple and a double
* Jocelyn McNany (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley), the current AMCC Player of the Week, tallied a home run in game one and then smacked a double and a triple in game two
* Abby Tingley (Union City, PA/Union City) earned the win in the circle in game one vs. the Hawks
* Tingley continues to lead the AMCC with a 1.12 ERA and eight wins

* The Saxons split a non-conference doubleheader with Ithaca on Tuesday
* Ithaca took game one 8-0 in six, while Alfred earned an 11-0 win in game two in six
* Alfred is now 11-9 on the season and 2-2 in the Empire 8
* Megan Bennett pitched all six innings with two strikeouts and only three hits in game two
* Bennett is now 8-3 on the season with 57 strikeouts and a 2.21 ERA
* Abigail Gatza leads the team with a .456 batting average and 26 RBIs, while ranking second in hits (26) and doubles (7)
