Behrend Softball Battled Emmanuel, Geneva in Florida

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - The Penn State Behrend softball team dropped a pair non-conference games on day fifth of spring break, falling 3-2 to Emmanuel and 7-1 to Geneva on Thursday.

Game One: Emmanuel 3, Penn State Behrend 2
Records: Penn State Behrend (3-4), Emmanuel (3-2)

Noteworthy: 

* The Lions have five games of the eight games decided by one run
* Emmanuel took a 2-0 lead with a run in the third and another in the fourth
* Behrend got on the board in the sixth frame, beginning with a pair of hits
* Jocelyn McNany (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) loaded the bases with a sacrifice bunt and error on the pitcher
* Chloe McLaughlin (Greenville, PA/Reynolds) hit an RBI sacrifice fly to score Emi Curcio (Perryopolis, PA/Frazier) to cut the lead to 2-1
* The Saints managed one more run, the eventual game winner thanks to a double by Christyna Winstead with two outs showing
* The Lions attempted the comeback in the seventh, their most productive inning with three hits
* With two runners on, Curcio singled up the middle to send home Kayla Salvini (McDonald, PA/Fort Cherry) but Emmanuel got the final out for the one-run win
* Kayla Lindberg (Austinburg, OH/Geneva) faced 19 batters, throwing 46 strikes in four innings of work
* Lindberg allowed just four hits and two runs for the loss

Noteworthy: 

* Geneva scored in four of the seven innings, including four runs in the fourth to defeat the Lions
* Behrend tallied one run on three hits
* J. McNany singled and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt and error on the pitcher, before scoring on a wild pitch
* Abby Tingley (Union City, PA/Union City) suffered the loss in the first 3.1 innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits
* Maria Jones (Wilcox, PA/Johnsonburg) came in relief and faced 11 batters before Kaitlyn Ezzone (Ashtabula, OH/Edgewood) pitched two innings and fanned a pair
