Panthers Blanked by Saxons

Bradford, PA. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's tennis team was back in action on Thursday, as they hosted the Alfred Saxons in a non-conference tilt. The Panthers struggled to find their footing, as they lost the match 9-0.

Pitt-Bradford was unable to get a foothold in any of the match beginning doubles competitions, dropping all three matches by 5 points or more. Lillian Hawk and Sandy Guo picked up the most points for the Panthers, dropping the #3 match 8-3.

Things did not improve for Pitt-Bradford as the match moved into singles play, as they were unable win any sets in the 6 matches. Playing at #1, Maya Schiplick was able to win three games in her first set, but playing her 6th match in three days, ran out of steam, dropping set two 6-0. Moving up to #2, Madilyn Rodgers lost her first set 6-1 before battling back in set two but falling 6-4. Lydia Ehrensberger was able to pick up 4 game victories in a 6-2, 6-2 loss at #3.

Pitt-Bradford falls to 1-2 with the loss. Their matches originally scheduled for this weekend have been postponed to a later date. Their next scheduled game will be on Saturday, September 17th, when they host Mount Aloysius.
