Baseball Falls by One on the Road

WASHINGTON, PA - The Redhawks hit the road today and took the short drive to face the Presidents of Wash & Jeff.

La Roche took an early 2-0 lead over the Presidents. In the first inning Anthony Cioffi got on base with a bunt, setting everything in motion. Cioffi took the next two at bats to his advantage until he had advanced to third base. With only one out to go, there was a fielding error, and that was Cioffi's opportunity to sneak in, and get the Redhawks on the board first.

The very next inning, Mason Brooks singled into right field, earning himself a spot on first base. During a wild pitch, Brooks took the opportunity to advance to second base.

Ben Dottle stepped up to the plate and singled up the middle, pushing Brooks to score, earning Dottle an RBI, and giving La Roche a 2-0 lead.

Unfortunately for the Redhawks, it wasn't enough to hold off the Presidents. Wash & Jeff's comeback was slow, but it was fatal. They scored one run in the fourth inning, one run in the sixth inning, and the final run was scored in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Jackson Rodgers and Shane Murphy did the majority of the pitching for La Roche.

Murphy threw three strikeouts, and walked one hitter.

Rodgers allowed one run, and two hits. He struck out four batters. He allowed one run.

The Redhawks are hitting the road to Florida to compete in the RussMat Tournament next week for Spring break. Make sure to check back for all the updates.
