Behrend Men's Tennis Claims Third Straight AMCC Championship

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's tennis team won 2024 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship match with a 5-4 win over Penn State Altoona on Sunday at Westwood Racquet Club.

* The Lions won their third straight championship and ninth overall title
* Behrend and Altoona met for the second straight AMCC championship
* The Behrend Lions advance to the Atlantic East Championships on May 5
* Jonathon Laier (Lansing, MI/Holt) and Luke Vunora (Natrona Heights, PA/Highlands) were named to the All-Tournament Team
* Vunora clinched the match today at No. 6 singles with a 7-5, 6-4 victory
* Vunora was also instrumental in a tiebreaker No. 3 doubles victory with William Thomas (Greensburg, PA/Greensburg Salem)
* Behrend won all three doubles matches for a comfortable 3-0 lead heading into singles where the match was determined
* Altoona won the No. 2-5 singles to collect four points
* Laier also won his singles match, posting a 6-2, 6-1 win over Casey Hess at the No. 1 spot
