Panthers Open AMCC Slate, Fall to Redhawks

Pittsburgh, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's soccer team opened its AMCC conference schedule on Saturday, falling 4-0 to the La Roche Redhawks.

The Panthers were able to take the first shot of the game as Mia Camps forced a save in the 5th minute, but the hosts were able to take control after that limiting the Panthers to just 1 more shot while taking 15 themselves. Goalkeeper Sadie Wood was able to keep the Redhawks off the scoreboard through 19 minutes, making 3 saves, but was beaten by LaRoche in the 20th. After the opener, the Redhawks kept pushing, forcing 8 saves by Wood over a 10-minute span, They added two more before the half, scoring in the 36th and 43rd minutes. 

In the second half Camps and Nadia Wynter were able to put shots on goal within 10 minutes. Wood made 7 more saves before LaRoche broke through with the 4th goal in the 75th minute. She added 6 more saves in the final 15 before Delaney Stowe put a freekick on target in the final minute of play.

Sadie Wood finished the game with 26 saves. It was the 6th most saves in a match in the NCAA this season. Mia Camps led the team with 2 shots on goal, while Delaney Stowe, Nadia Wynter, and McKenna Kelly all had one each.

The Panthers fall to 0-9 on the season with an 0-1 record in AMCC play. They will have a week off before continuing AMCC play next Saturday with a home match against Mount Aloysius. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:15 p.m.
