Eagles explode for 27 runs in Doubleheader Sweep at Mt. Aloysius

CRESSON, Pa. – Juniata softball piled up 27 total runs across two games, defeating Mt. Aloysius 11–0 and 16–6 in a dominant non-conference sweep on Monday afternoon.

In Game 1, the Eagles got rolling early and never looked back, plating three runs in the first inning and finishing with 10 total hits. Lexi Roush (Indiana, Pa. / Marion Center Area HS) ripped a two-run double in the opening frame and finished with three RBIs. Abby John (Mount Airy, Md. / South Carroll) went 2-for-2 with two runs scored, two stolen bases, and an RBI, while Morgan Brumbaugh (McVeytown, Pa. / Mount Union Area HS / Shippensburg University)singled home two more in the fourth.

Alison Superka (Orefield, Pa. / Parkland) scored twice and drove in one, and Reagan Goldsmith (Middletown, Del. / Middletown) capped the scoring with a two-run single to center.

In the circle, Gracie Ruch (Tower City, Pa. / Williams Valley HS) earned the win, throwing three shutout innings and allowing just one hit. Courtney Clippinger (Three Springs, Pa. / Southern Huntingdon County HS) closed the game with two scoreless frames to complete the combined shutout.

The offense caught fire again in Game 2, erupting for 15 hits and 16 runs—including a five-run third and five-run fifth. Jessie Hunt (Bath, Pa. / Northampton Area) put together a monster game, going 4-for-4 with five RBIs, a home run, and two doubles. Superka launched a three-run homer in the second, and Roush added two more doubles and an RBI.

John went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, Kay Magill (Sykesville, Md. / Century) drove in two and scored twice, and Dani Berlin (Dover, N.J. / Morris Catholic HS) chipped in two hits and an RBI. Robuck and Goldsmith also added run-scoring hits as every starter reached base.

Maryn Swank (Portage, Pa. / Portage HS) started the game, and Maddy Detz (Columbia, Pa. / Lancaster Catholic HS) picked up the win with three innings of relief.

With the sweep, Juniata improved to 8–21 on the season and returns home to host Wilkes on Thursday.
