Softball Honors Seniors on Saturday vs. Alfred State

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend softball team will compete against Alfred State in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) regular-season finale on Saturday in conjunction with Senior Day. The first pitch is at 1 p.m.

Penn State Behrend News & Notes

* The Lions will honor seniors Nicole DeRose (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam), Cami McNany (Emlenton, PA/Allegheny-Clarion Valley) and Maddie Smith (DuBois, PA/DuBois) before the game
* The three seniors were instrumental in helping the Lions to a 70-50 overall record and an impressive 38-6 AMCC record
* The seniors also have helped the Lions capture two AMCC Championships and advancing to the NCAA Tournament twice
* The Lions need to sweep Alfred State to guarantee the No. 1 seed for the AMCC Championships
* Behrend is coming off a pair of wins over Penn State Altoona to move into the top spot in the conference at 10-2
* Kayla Lindberg (Austinburg, OH/Geneva) is the current AMCC Pitcher of the Week
* Lindberg posted a 1.40 ERA in a 1-0 week, throwing 10 innings and allowing two earned runs
* Lindberg struck out eight, including five vs. Altoona in a complete-game victory
* Last week, Meghan Petitte (Sugarcreek, OH/Garaway) registered a .625 average in a 2-2 week, tallying five hits, two doubles, and one home run, as she also scored four runs and drove in four

Alfred State News & Notes

* The Pioneers are 10-23 overall and 3-9 in conference play
* Alfred State split with La Roche last Saturday, winning game one 7-6 and falling 6-1 in game two
* Audrey Farrell was named the AMCC Player of the Week
* Farrell hit .682 in six games, going 15-for-22 with seven extra base hits including four doubles and three triples
* In addition to her production at the plate, Farrell also threw three complete games in the circle, striking out 14 and recording two wins for the Pioneers
* Farrell leads the AMCC in batting average (.511), second in RBIs (28) and third in strikeouts (56)
