Cole Scores 1,000th Career Point as a Redhawk in 78-69 Victory at Behrend

ERIE, Pa. - Senior forward Jenna Cole scored her 1,000th career point as a Redhawk in Saturday's 78-69 victory at conference rival, Penn St. Behrend. Cole finished the game with a team-high 18 points and 4 rebounds while shooting 6 of 9 (67%) from the field and 4 of 6 (67%) from three-point range. Jenna Cole becomes just the 14th Redhawk in program history to join the 1,000 point club. She did so in only three years with La Roche. Jenna has totaled 1,403 points (and counting) in her collegiate career. The reigning AMCC Player of the Year has averaged 14.5 points and 5.1 rebounds in eight conference games this season.

La Roche, now 8-0 in conference play, led for the entirety of today's contest between the AMCC heavy-weights. LRU remains at the top of the AMCC standings as the only team still undefeated in league play. The Redhawks have won 13 straight regular season conference games dating back to last season. 

Shaundrea Butler had another extremely solid performance on the day. The junior guard finished with team-high 18 points, 8 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals while shooting 5 of 11 (45%) from the field, a perfect 2 of 2 from beyond the arc and 6 of 7 (86%) from the free throw line.

How it Happened

Danajah Sanders opened the contest with back-to-back triples to put the Redhawks up 6-2 early on. The Lions continued to stick around for the remainder of the first quarter but were never able to take the lead, La Roche finished the first quarter ahead 21-17. Sanders and Cole combined for 11 points in the quarter.

La Roche opened up the second quarter on a 5-0 run after Shaundrea Butler nailed a 3-PT off an assist/steal from Dasja Anderson. Halfway through the second, the Redhawks would take a commanding 16 point lead after Ayanna Mazyck capped of an 11-3 run with back-to-back treys. LRU headed into halftime ahead 43-28. 

Behrend managed to outscore La Roche 24-16 in the third quarter to make it a seven point contest heading into the final quarter. The Redhawks opened the fourth quarter on a 5-0 run and never looked back, they would go on to win 78-69. La Roche shot an impressive 7 of 12 (58%) from the field in the fourth.

The Redhawks knocked down a season-high 12 three-pointers on only 22 attempts (55%, also a season-high).

Ayanna Mazyck notched her third double-double of the season, posting 16 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. 

Danajah Sanders scored a season-high 16 points and added 4 rebounds, 2 steals and assists to the box score.

Dasja Anderson recorded 10 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals. 

The Redhawks out-rebounded the Lions, 42-30, tying their season-high.
