Behrend Softball Finishes Runners Up at AMCC Championships

ERIE, Pa. – The No. 3 Penn State Altoona softball team won back-to-back games in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship series to upset No. 1 Penn State Behrend 10-2 and 9-4 on Saturday.

Noteworthy:

* Abby Tingley (Union City, PA/Union City), Jocelyn McNany (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) and Cami McNany (Emlenton, PA/Allegheny-Clarion Valley) were named to the AMCC All-Tournament Team

Key Moments: 

* The Altoona Lions have won their third overall title and first since 2014
* Altoona pitcher Madison Peters only allowed nine hits and four earned runs in the pair of games while striking out five
* Peters retired 24 straight batters from the bottom of the second inning in game one until the third inning of game two
* Altoona held a 28-9 advantage in hits and left 17 runners stranded to Behrend's five over the two games
* J. McNany registered a two-RBI home run in the second inning of the first game, while Sierra Williams (Grove City, PA/Lakeview) did the same thing in game two in the bottom of the seventh
* Williams and McNany drove in a pair of runs in the final game
* Kayla Lindberg (Austinburg, OH/Geneva) started both games, lasting a third of an inning for the two losses
* Tingley finished game one and Kaitlyn Ezzone (Ashtabula, OH/Edgewood) made her first appearance in the circle this weekend in game two
