Behrend Softball Remains Unbeaten in AMCC; Lions Sweep Alfred State

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend softball team swept Alfred State on Senior Day, winning 14-1 (5) in the opener and posting a 7-2 game-two decision in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Sunday.

Game One: Penn State Behrend 14, Alfred State 1
Records: Penn State Behrend (23-8, 11-0 AMCC), Alfred State (8-16, 3-8 AMCC)

Key Moments: 

* The Lions had seven extra-base hits in their 14 overall hits that produced 14 runs and 14 RBIs
* Lexi Edgett (Frisco, TX/Lone Star) went 3-for-3 with RBIs and one run scored
*
Kayla Salvini (McDonald, PA/Fort Cherry) ripped her first collegiate home run, only to be fitting on senior day
* Abby Tingley (Union City, PA/Union City) continues to dominate the circle, allowing one run and striking out three to improve to 13-3
* A pair of walks, a pair of doubles and a single generated four runs in the first inning for the Lions
* Behrend added two more in the second with two singles with two outs showing for a 6-0 early lead
* Alfred State tacked on a run in the third but the Lions came back with five runs on four hits in the bottom of the inning
* In the four hits, Meghan Petitte (Sugarcreek, OH/Garaway) and Maria Jones (Wilcox, PA/Johnsonburg) each smacked a triple
* Salvini got her home run in the three-run fourth inning, getting around the bases for an in-the-park homer to make it 12-1
* McNany's double drove in two more runs in the fourth for the final 14-1
* Sierra Williams (Grove City, PA/Grove City), Emi Curcio (Perryopolis, PA/Frazier) and Lauren Rabanal (San Diego, CA/Westview) each tallied a double in the win

Game Two:
 Penn State Behrend 7, Alfred State 2
Records: Penn State Behrend (24-8, 12-0 AMCC), Alfred State (8-17, 3-9 AMCC)

 Key Moments: 

* The Lions are now 17-1 in their last 18 games and improve to 12-2 at home
* The win keeps Behrend undefeated in AMCC play
* Every Behrend player in the lineup registered at least a hit
* McNany went 3-for-4 with two runs
* Alfred State collected two runs on 10 hits, scoring in the first and fifth innings
* The Lions used Petitte's triple to scored McNany to even the score, before Petitte scored the eventual game-winning run on an error
* In the bottom of the third inning, Behrend registered the remaining five runs
* Behrend used six singles to load the bases and unload the bases while leaving three stranded
* Kayla Lindberg (Austinburg, OH/Geneva) earned her 11th win of the season to go with three strikeouts
