Redhawks Drop Conference Opener to Medaille at Home

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The La Roche women's soccer team lost this afternoon to conference opponent Medaille 1-0 to fall to 3-4 on the year. The Redhawks had plenty of opportunities in the match to score, but were unable to convert on any of them. In total, the Redhawks took 26 shots (11 on goal) compared to the Mavericks 7 shots (4 on goal). Five Redhawks recorded at least two shots, Freshman forward Heaven Butler lead the team with six shots (one on goal).

Match Highlights

The lone goal of the match came from graduate-student midfielder Marissa Campbell of Medaille in the 59th minute of the match. 

Takeaways

The Redhawks have lost three of their last four games by a combined score of 8-1. Today's match marks the fifth of La Roche's season that has been decided by a single goal. The Redhawks are 3-2 in those games. 

Senior forward Allesandra Perri left the game in the second half with an injury. If she is unable to return for any length of time, it could prove to be a big blow for the Redhawks. Perri leads the team in both goals (3) and points (6).

NEXT UP: The women's soccer team will not play again until next Saturday (9/28) when they hit the road to take on conference opponent D'Youville. Game-time starts at 4:15 p.m.
