Men's Volleyball Takes On Bears and Tornados

Wells College men's volleyball hosted the Geneva College Golden Tornados and the SUNY Potsdam Bears for a tri-match on Saturday afternoon in Aurora, NY.

First up for the Express was Geneva College who came into the contest with a 6-11 record. In the first two sets, the Express ran into some troubles on offense. In each of the first two sets Wells only scored nine points while tallying fourteen errors combined. The Golden tornadoes had fourteen kills compared to the Wells' 5. In the third set, the Express found some improvement in increasing their offense thanks to kills from Confidence Burrows. Harrison Keena, Mason Moon, and Connor Garvey tallied six digs each, but Geneva defeated the Express in three straight sets.

The SUNY Potsdam Bears were up next for Wells College. The Bears had a 7-10 record, and the Express were still hoping to capture their first win of the season. In the first set, Wells had nine kills with only four errors. However, some late service errors gave the Bears a slight edge helping them win the first set. In the second, the Express scored their most points of the day and kept it close for most of the match. Potsdam would finish on a strong run to pull away thanks to some strong serves and a few errors by Wells. the final set was as close as can be, Wells was able to grab a lead early after some Potsdam errors and a few kills from Confidence Burrows. Former Express athlete, Cooper Colesante had a hot streak on serves that helped the Bears put away the Express in three straight sets.
