Altoona, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's basketball team was unable to keep up with a high-scoring Penn State-Altoona team, as the Panthers fell to the Lions 112-85 in Altoona.

  • Despite falling behind after an opening possession layup and two early Lion three-pointers, Greg Archie kept the Panthers close, scoring Pitt-Bradford's first 5 points of the game. Isaiah Archie made a transition lay-up to put the Panthers down one but quickly saw his basket answered with two straight from Penn State-Altoona. Trey Oyler hit a three to reduce the lead to two points, but the Lions shut down the Panthers for the next three minutes, while they efficiently pushed their lead into double-digits.
  • The hosts were able to maintain their lead for the majority of the half, as they answered each Panther comeback attempt. The closest the Panthers were able to get to the Lions was 11 points with five minutes to go in the half. Down 16, Nathan Schneider made a layup and then Isaiah Archie followed it up with two more after a pair of Lion free throws. Archie then assisted on a corner three from Lennon Lindholm which put the Panthers down 38-37. The lead fluctuated between 11 and 17 points and finished at 12 when Greg Archie went coast to coast to make a layup as time expired.
  • After the break, the Panthers came out firing, scoring on their first possession through Isaiah Archie and using a Greg Archie free throw to get back to within single digits of the Lions. Unfortunately, the hosts answered the call yet again, scoring on their next three possessions while keeping the Panthers off the board to restore the 15 point lead. A second Lindholm three with 15:46 to go kept the Panthers deficit at 14 points, but the Lions scored 10 of the next 12 points in the game to push their advantage over 20 points.
  • The Panthers were unable to slow the Lions down for the remainder of the half, as they allowed 64 points on 60% shooting and 20 made free throws to close the game. The Panthers shot a respectable 47.5% from the field in the half, but struggled from three and the free-throw line, making 3-15 from beyond the arc and 44.4% from the charity stripe.

Isaiah Archie led all scorers in the game with 32 points. He was extremely efficient in the game as he made 14 of 18 from the field, including 7 of 8 in the second half. He also had 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. This marked the 4th time in 5 games that Archie has surpassed 30 points. Greg Archie was the only other Panther to finish in double figures, as he scored 16 points. Greg made 6 of 11 from the field, 2 of 6 from three, and 2 of 3 from the line. Nathan Schneider was the Panthers' leading rebounder, as he finished with 7 rebounds and added 9 points.

The loss moves the Panthers to 5-4 on the season, with a 1-1 record in AMCC play. They will return to action in KOA Arena on Saturday, December 18th, when they host Pitt-Greensburg at 4:00 p.m.
