La Roche Falls in a Hard Fought Battle on the Road

Pittsburgh, PA - On the road La Roche (5-5) went to Carnegie Mellon (6-4) for their second matchup of the season. 

In the season home opener for the Redhawks they took on the Tartans and suffered an overtime loss of 103-102. 

Walking into this contest, both teams knew it was going to be a battle of wills. 

The hardest fought battle tonight was in the paint and unfortunately for the Redhawks, it was a battle lost. The Redhawks scored 26 points in the paint, while the Tartans netted 58 in the paint. CMU had a field goal percentage of 50.7%, and went almost 70% from the free throw line. 

La Roche gained 11 points from fast breaks, and 10 points from turnovers. The Rehawks also had a rough night at field goal range shooting 31.7%. 

After a hard fought two periods, the Tartans took the winning set with a final score of 80-57.

Nick Nakasian was the leading Tartan in tonight's encounter. Nakasian 16 points, going 8-12 from field goal range, with seven rebounds.

Kevin Sax netted 15 points, he went 3-3 at the free throw line. 

Going 5-6 at field goal range was Nolan Casey who added 12 points into the scorebook for the Tartans. 

Leading the Redhawks in tonight's charge was a tie between Isaiah Thomas and Devon Darrell. Both completed 11 points for LRU. 

Rebounding was Joe Pipilo with 9 rebounds. Pipilo also contributed 8 points. 

Next up for the Redhawks is a conference matchup against Penn State-Behrend on the road on January 12. Tip-off time is scheduled for 7:00 PM, directly following the women's game.
