Redhawks Best Barons, 81-55

McCANDLESS, Pa. - La Roche women's basketball rolled to their fifth straight win against Franciscan Wednesday night at the Kerr, 81-55. Four different Redhawks finished in double-digit scoring figures led by Senior forward Jenna Cole who finished with 20 points and six rebounds while draining 7 of 10 (70%) shot attempts including 3 of 5 (67%) from three point range. Cole has scored 20 or more points in three of her last four games.

Dasja Anderson was all over the box score, contributing 17 points, three rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block while shooting 6 of 8 (75%) from the field.

Danajah Sanders finished with 14 points, two assists, a rebound and a steal while shooting a career-high 85.7% (6-7) from the floor.

The trio of Sanders, Anderson and Cole shot an impeccable 19 of 25 (76%) from the floor combined.

La Roche shot 55% (31-56) from the field as a unit, tying their season-high.

The Redhawks have won four of their last seven games by 25 or more points.

With three games remaining in regular season conference play, La Roche owns a league best 16-1 record, currently two games ahead of Hilbert (14-3).

How it Happened

The Redhawks stormed out the gates and took an 11-2 lead less than three minutes into the game, knocking down 4 of their first 5 shots.The Redhawks kept their foot on the gas going on a 13-5 run to increase their cushion to 17 points. La Roche finished the first ahead 27-12. Cole and Sanders combined for 18 points in the first.

La Roche outscored Franciscan 20-17 in the second quarter to increase their advantage to 18 points at the break. The Redhawks shot an impressive 18 of 28 (64%) from the field in the first half.

LRU led by double-digits for the entirety of the second half, leading by as many as 29 points. Women's basketball would go on to win by 26, their sixth win this season by 25 or more points.

Inside the Box Score

Ayanna Mazyck provided 14 points and three steals in 21 minutes off the bench while shooting 6 of 10 (60%) from the field.

Shaundrea Butler tied her season-high with nine assists and added three rebounds, two steals, two points and a block.

Machia Hairston tied Cole with a team-high with six rebounds.

The Barons won the battle of the boards, out-rebounding the Redhawks 42-29, marking the first time La Roche has dipped below 30 rebounds in a game this season.

LRU recorded 19 assists on 31 field goals. La Roche has posted at least 16 assists in each of their last five games.

The Redhawks forced 13 steals and scored 31 points off turnovers.

La Roche's bench contributed 28 points as a unit.

Franciscan's Estelle Leon finished with game-highs in points (21) and rebounds (10).
